Who We Admit

Moonridge Academy is very selective in whom we admit into our program, both because of limited bed availability (16 beds) and because of our clinical focus on certain presenting issues. The following are characteristics of typical presenting issues: 

  • Depression and other mood disorders
  • Learning disabilities, including ADD, NLD or ADHD
  • Trauma
  • Attachment/adoption issues
  • Parent/child conflict
  • Manipulation
  • Oppositional behavior
  • Low self-esteem
  • Eating Disorders
  • Peer problems
  • Post-traumatic stress
  • Self-harm (most often "cutting")
  • Family adjustment difficulties
  • Victims of abuse and neglect
  • Obsessive and compulsive disorders
  • Low motivation
  • Hopelessness
  • Running Away
  • Computer and/or Internet addiction
  • Other anxiety disorders
  • Bereavement
  • Relationship problems

Our admissions criteria will not allow for:

  • Medically unstable
  • Sexual perpetrators
  • Violent aggression
  • Fire Starters
  • Psychotic disorders

How to Apply

The admission process into Moonridge Academy is simple. You may complete the application online by clicking here, creating a new account and then providing us with information about your daughter. Alternatively, you may request an application link be emailed to you by contacting our Admissions Director, Kaysha Sorensen at 801-318-7278 or Because Moonridge is intentionally kept small, please be aware that sometimes parents will have a short wait prior to a bed becoming available. Our Admissions Director would be happy to let you know about current availability and if we have a wait list for an available spot.  Anamarie can also assist you in setting up a tour of Moonridge Academy prior to making a decision about admission. Some parents find touring helpful because it allows them to meet members of the treatment team and see the campus.

Moonridge Academy is a professional organization, licensed as a residential treatment center. Moonridge Academy accepts payment in a variety of ways. Parents and referral sources are welcome to counsel with a representative from Moonridge Academy about private pay and insurance reimbursement.
